Balls Out: RIM Ex Co-CEO Bails Before 4Q Fiscal 2012 Earnings Announcement

(Photo via
So much for the Captain going down with the ship. In true Schettino fashion, Balsillie retired from the company he helped to create as it continues to experience its fall from grace. Additionally, Newly minted CEO Heins cleaned up his shop, so we can all say goodbye to the current CTO and COO along with a handful of SVPs and VPs. Keeping with this theme, RIM bid adieu to their profits in the 4th quarter to the tune of a 125 million dollar loss. All in all, a shitty start for Heins who inherited a mess.

Everything comes down to BlackBerry 10, which is slated to hit the market later in 2012. So we're looking at 3 quarters of stale products before the next gen phone comes out (BTW RIM shipped 21% less Blackberrys in the last quarter of their fiscal year. Not good.). I really hope that any new phones they release between now and then will be compatible with the new OS (we all know this is not gonna happen).

RIM is betting the Waterloo on BB 10 and it better pay off. Or else you might buy your Samsung BlackBerry very soon.

Tiger Shakes Monkey, But Can He "Master" His Domain Once Again?

Shout out to Tiger Woods for finally getting a golf tournament victory.

Eldrick captured the Bay Hill Invitational in Orlando on Sunday, snapping a 132 week winless drought. He last won in 2009 at the BMW Championship in Chicago.

Neptunes' Alter-Ego Project Provides The Perfect Soundtrack to 'Guys Night Out'

The Neptunes production crew, made up of the Virginia-based duo of Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo, took the R&B, Hip Hop, and Pop music worlds by storm with their signature production style starting in the late 90s and well into the 2000s.

Their production sound is instantly identifiable.  You always know a Neptunes produced track when you here it.  Smash hit songs such as Usher's "You Don't Have To Call," Jay-Z's "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It To Me)," Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You," and Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful" are just a few of the joints that come to mind when thinking of that classic Neptunes flavour.

College Hoops Or Pro Football: Which Has Brought The Most "March Madness?"

College basketball usually takes the cake when it comes to bringing "Madness" to the month of March. But this year, the NFL has given Hoops a run for its money, with an unprecedented flurry of off-season activity this month.

Comedy Review: Tracy Morgan Is A Sick Mofo (And We Love Him For It)

Yes. He killed it. (Photo via
Me and the future Mrs. Paqman were waiting on The Turnbulls at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts for the Tracy Morgan stand up show. As we were hanging out, I saw a dude walk through the front doors with a white shirt and an impressive pot belly. I leaned over to Fabs and said "Is that Tracy Morgan?". Before she had a chance to answer, I instinctively yelled out "TRACY!!!!!" while she wooed it up. He looked over briefly and kept walking with his fiancĂ©. He had that look on his know, the signature look he has that just makes you want to laugh. And that was our preview to a great performance.

Instant Karma Got Me: Blackberry Playbook Lost and Found

(Photo via

I'm attending the Canadian Music Week conference for work and had a technology heart attack today. I was hanging out with my boy LC on the Mezzanine level of the Royal York Hotel, catching up on today's news. We left the spot and I accidentally left my Playbook on the bench where we were sitting. I NEVER leave anything behind, especially my beloved tablet.

Wherein The Ottawa Senators Can't Buy A Goal

Sad Michalek (Photo via
Silver Seven, hands down my fave Senators blog, beat me to the punch on this one. Alfreddson and Co. cannot score a goal to save their contracts. It's downright shitty timing for a drought with the NHL playoffs around the corner. Ottawa has scored 5 goals in their last 4 games. That's 0.8 goals per game. And that is just not enough. Teams go in and out of these funks throughout a season. I get it. But now is not the time to start falling apart. I've watched these games over the past week and one theme keeps coming up: puck support. As in there isn't any. How do you expect a defensman to pass the puck from his defensive end to his forwards when they are all floating around the offensive blue line? Why are you expecting a pass when your ass is in neutral? Why are you consistently dumping the puck without burning steel to grab it? MacLean stated that he wants the Sens to be a puck possession team, but it looks like they are a puck regression team of late. Instead of pushing the play, they are giving it away. These are terrible habits to get into with the second season on the doorstep.

Calling An Audioble: Deep Sea Arcade

(Photo via
I (ab)use my fave subscription streaming service on the daily. Every Tuesday is a treat since I add a ton of new audioble candidates, searching for a diamond in the rough. There haven't been any exciting major releases up to date (the new Van Halen included), but I was able to find a few fun albums like those by Dirty Ghosts and A Place To Bury Strangers. Along comes Deep Sea Arcade and my search is temporarily put on hold. I've had their first full length album "Outlands" on repeat for the last week and it's not getting tired.

Friday Flashback - House of St. Patrick Edition

House Of Pain - "Jump Around"

Time to get your shamrock on! In honor of everyone's favorite drinking holiday, P&B presents House Of Pain's "Jump Around". For all you trivia buffs out there, this Irish-American anthem was released in 1992 and the group's name was inspired (or taken) from H.G. Wells' "The Island of Dr Moreau". BONUS: The song was produced by the always awesome DJ Muggs.

So, grab a pint, throw on your Celtics jersey and get vertical!

Eastern Promising: The 93 Point Dash To The NHL Playoffs

(Photo via
93. This is the magic number for all NHL clubs. This has been, in recent seasons, the average number of points needed to get access to the second season. Most teams have about 10 games left to play and, in my view, this is one of the most exciting times as a hockey fan. The playoffs are tops in any fans heart, but the lead up to the first round is where winners and losers are made.

The Race In The East

The Madness of March Begins

March is probably my favourite month of the year.

My #1 reason?  NCAA March Madness!

The 2012 edition of the Men's national collegiate basketball tournament is about to kick off.  The 64 team playoff will start today just after 12:00 EST, and will conclude with the Final Four showdown in New Orleans on March 31.

CBS Sports college basketball analyst and former UNLV star Greg Anthony gives us his insight on who'll make it to the final destination.

Paradise Found at Jamaica's Tensing Pen

Just returned from a nice caribbean vacation with the wifey. Been to Jamaica several times before, but this was her first visit to the island.

We had to chance to visit several cities while we were there, including Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and the capital city of Kingston, which is located in the parish of St Andrew.

But there's one particular stop on the trip that I'll focus on for this post: our 3 night stay at Tensing Pen Resort, in the West End area of the beautiful town of Negril.

The WZRDs: Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius Drop Rock Collabo

(Photo via
WZRD's album dropped last week and I'm trying to figure out what to make of it. This project or duo consists of the outspoken Kid Cudi and Dot da Genius. I saw Cudi last year at the Molson Amphitheater after he rescheduled due to an illness and I felt really old. It was nothing but kids in attendance, who were eating up every verse and chorus. What made me uncomfortable were his vocals, not the young concert goers. And that was my major concern coming into this WZRD album.

Dig On Led Zeppelin's "III"

P&B brings you the "Dig On" Classic Album Series.  We'll delve into our vaults to discuss the records that have profoundly impacted our musical tastes.  The albums we present are considered essential to anyone's record collection. In the end, you can't understand the present (or future) until you "Dig On" the past.

"I've been working from seven, seven, seven, to eleven every night,
It kinda makes my life a drag...
Baby, Since I've Been Loving You, I'm about to lose,
I'm about lose to my worried mind."
- Lyrics from Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You"

Led Zeppelin could be the "Dig On" artist for the next 9 post (ok 8...still can't get into "In Through The Out Door"..."Hot Dog"...really??), but I'll focus on "III" for this edition of our continuing series. I can't speak for Turnbull, but Zeppelin deeply influenced my musical tastes and set a standard for all rock music that I listened to following my dive into the band's catalogue. My introduction to "III" came via my uncle, who had an amazing vinyl collection.
