Paradise Found at Jamaica's Tensing Pen
Just returned from a nice caribbean vacation with the wifey. Been to Jamaica several times before, but this was her first visit to the island.
We had to chance to visit several cities while we were there, including Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and the capital city of Kingston, which is located in the parish of St Andrew.
But there's one particular stop on the trip that I'll focus on for this post: our 3 night stay at Tensing Pen Resort, in the West End area of the beautiful town of Negril.
So here's the story: whenever it comes to accomodations, I always let my wife pick the spots. She's very particular about where we stay (not in a bad way, she's just very discerning), so I knew I just needed to leave the hotel choice up to her.
When she informed me that we'd be spending 3 nights at Tensing Pen, I obviously went to the website to check out some pics of the joint.
And although the place looked decent, I really could not get a good sense of what it was really like. The photo gallery looked okay, but I saw a lot of rocks and cliffs. It looked nice, but I wondered...
"Where's the beach?"
All of my past tropical vacations included a beach, so when I didn't see one on the website, I didn't know what to think. But trusting I wasn't being steered wrong, I justed rolled with it.
And nothing could've prepared me for the sheer beauty I encountered once we arrived!
First of all....there is no beach at this resort. Instead, the property made up of 17 thatch and stone-cut cottages, and is built on the rock cliffs and coral, right on the Caribbean Sea.
It's hard to find words to describe how beautiful this place is!.
Friendly service from the staff made our stay that much better.
And there are lounge chairs, hammocks, and gazebos throughout the property, so there's plenty of relaxation to be had.
Tired of suntanning for 2 hours? Just hop in the pool, or jump off the rock edge right into the Caribbean Sea.
Now the food wasn't the greatest in the world, but that didn't matter because with the many, many other hotels and restos along the West End, there were lots of dining options in the area, all within walking distance.
If an all-inclusive resort is more your thing, then Tensing Pen is not for you.
But if you're looking for a boutique resort experience in a mind-blowing idyllic setting, with the freedom to come and go as you please, then I can't think of a better place in Jamaica to visit.
Fellas, if you're looking for a place to take that special lady in your life, this is the kind of spot you take her to.
I'm sure there are so many other places like it, but from our experience, Tensing Pen will always be a magical place.
It gets the highest of P&B recommendations!
